Depression

Depression

At DSC, we do not stop at noting low mood, loss of interest, or low energy. We begin with a comprehensive differential assessment spanning psychological, organic, and environmental domains against DSM-5-TR, ICD-11/CDDR, and NICE criteria.

We precisely distinguish major depressive disorder, persistent depressive disorder (dysthymia), adjustment disorder with depressed mood, natural grief and bereavement, and a depressive episode within bipolar disorder — a distinction that can fundamentally change the treatment approach and choice of medication.

We also assess organic causes and contributing factors such as anxiety, trauma, sleep disorders, and chronic pain.

Based on this precise diagnostic profile, we build an integrated treatment plan that may combine cognitive behavioral therapy, interpersonal therapy, behavioral activation, and cognitive restructuring, plus targeted medication when indicated and under psychiatric supervision. Family involvement and regular, standardized measurement track improvement in mood, energy, sleep, functioning, and relationships. We do not settle for symptom relief; our goal is the person's confident, independent return to life.
