Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD)

Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD)

At DSC, we approach borderline personality disorder as an enduring, pervasive pattern of instability in identity, relationships, emotion, and impulse control — never as a passing episode or a simple “mood swing.” We establish this through a precise differential assessment according to DSM-5-TR and ICD-11/CDDR, distinguishing it from rapid-cycling bipolar disorder, depression with impulsive traits, complex post-traumatic stress disorder, and other personality disorders.

Whenever self-harm or suicide risk appears, it receives immediate, dedicated assessment and is treated as an urgent clinical priority that does not wait for the diagnostic process to conclude.

From a deep understanding of the roots of emotional instability, we build an integrated treatment plan centered on Dialectical Behavior Therapy and its four components — mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness.

Mentalization-based therapy or schema therapy may be incorporated when needed, alongside family training that balances emotional validation with healthy boundaries, a clear safety plan, and regular measurement of reduced impulsive behavior and greater stability in relationships and identity.
